Description
Diprosone Ointment is a potent topical corticosteroid containing 0.05% w/w betamethasone (as 0.064% w/w betamethasone dipropionate) in a rich, occlusive base of liquid paraffin and white soft paraffin.
Uses
• Inflammatory skin conditions: Eczema, contact dermatitis, neurodermatitis, and lichen planus.
• Psoriasis: Plaque psoriasis affecting the hands, feet, body, or scalp (though ointments are generally best suited for dry, thickened, or scaly plaques rather than the face or skin folds)
Application: Apply a thin layer to the affected skin area once or twice daily, gently rubbing it in
• Duration: Use it for the shortest possible time. Avoid continuous long-term use (typically capped at a maximum of 2 to 4 weeks depending on medical supervision) to prevent skin thinning or hormone absorption.
• Where to avoid: Do not use on the face, groin, underarms, broken skin, open wounds, or with airtight/occlusive bandages unless specifically directed by a doctor.
